Long Time No See

I know, I know......it's unbearable how long it's been since I was here last.  I have definitely neglected you with blatant disregard.  Forgive me.  It is gloriously Autumn outside; can you sense it?  I mean, like fully, sense it??  This is my absolutely favorite type of day. I am cooking slowly over the week.  I have my tablet on its cute, lil', decorative easel watching "The Price is Right" and enjoying my second cup of coffee.  Autumn scented candles are lit around the house, and I am having pumpkin baked oats for breakfast.  This is the warmest, gooiest thing I've ever eaten, and I fully intend to make this a regular recipe in my life........healthy and yummy. I've thought about you so much lately, and I have missed our times together more than you can imagine.  Well, maybe not more.....maybe you feel the same way. I fear that if I don't make our relationship a true priority, I will wake up at the end of my life and regret its pass...

Crappy Cable, Washing Dishes and Polenta

Today I finally feel the weight of a 2 week vacation fully upon me.............I need a vacation from my vacation.  I have washed dishes so often I feel like I am attached to the sink.  Seriously.  I have washed my large cast iron skillet an average of twice daily.  Similarly, if I don't wash my crockpot again for a while, I will not be sad. I had so many lofty plans for my vacation:  reading, jewelry making, sewing, etc.  About the only thing I did accomplish was to try out several gluten free flours for some baking. Crappy cable is truly a rampant virus.  Of all the channels we have, nothing is of any value save TCM and the Hallmark Channel.  I could delete almost all the channels in the lineup and not miss a thing.  Even standards like the Macy's Parade and Dick Clark's Rocking New Year's Eve are so full of commercial breaks and cuts to other venues that someone ends up watching alot of garbage in the middle.  I am nostalgic for s...

Kindle, Banana Bread and Smug Whispers

My Kindle and I are on the outs right now.........I am pretty mad about the Veronica Roth attempt to wrap up her "Divergent" series with the third book, "Allegiant".  It took me only a couple of days to complete the first two in the series, and here I am, 8 days in, and I am only halfway through "Allegiant".  Seriously. In sharp contrast is my obsessive need to complete Gillain Flynn's "Gone Girl" which I detested at the beginning.  Now, I cannot get enough.  I honestly feel like an infatuated, love struck teenager as I troll any internet information about the book.  Breathe!!  1, 2, 3.  It's healthy, I guess.  I am not much impressed with Gillian Flynn herself.........there is just something about her:  her hair, her fair complexion, her smug attitude in interviews. Ok, ok.............I have done some research on her too.  She is able to pull off the multiplicity in characterization that Veronica Roth cannot.  As a writer, I wa...
Cake Batter Truffles  It is not very often I find a confection-y good recipe I think I have to try, but here it is.  This is not mine, and I left the links in.  So if you want to try it too and thank the creator.........indulge: Cake Batter Truffles Do you remember when Cold Stone first came out with cake batter flavored ice cream? Did you know my husband is the one that came up with the idea? When we walked into waffle cone smelling Cold Stone and saw that they had cake battered flavored ice cream he said, "They stole my idea!" Back in 2005, I was nine months pregnant with our first son working full time in Provo while John was staying with my family in Arizona training for football, trying to make it to the next level. I was a little bummed with the situation. I was hormonal and lonely while my husband was celebrating holidays and having game night with all my family. But it was what we had to do at the time. During one of their game nights, he came up with...
