Tomorrow is Friday...............the end of my first week at the new gig. It's been a crazy week of new experiences: new people, new programs, new students, new content. I inherited a huge art room full of lots and lots of supplies. Some of these supplies are abundant; some are scarce. Figuring out what I need will entail hours of work all by itself.
Add to this moving into a new house (yea!) and trying to get unpacked...............I've been extremely busy in the three weeks I've been in Coleman.
The town literally closes at 5 p.m. daily. Aside from a couple of convenience stores or fast food joints, everything in this town is closed by 5. The serenity has its price.
A couple of cute stories.........
When I asked for my class rosters on PD, the registrar handed me the sheets and apologized that I had a couple of pretty big classes. I asked her what was considered big, and she said I had a class of 24 and a class of 18................lol. "That's all," I laughed. "I think I'll survive." She continues to apologize to me each time I see her, and I had to tell her that 24 average students were better than 8 detoxing students. Twenty four students that I will have all semester, and probably next year, too. Twenty four students who are involved in school, attend church, volunteer in their.community.............wow...........what a burden.
This is yet another of my "short" entries..............due to lack of time or lack of attention, I couldn't quite verbalize everything I was feeling.
I always hope to impart some words of wisdom in my posts. When I find that I don't, I get a bit discouraged. Maybe the intent I had at the beginning of this post will return to me so that I can complete it. Until then.................here's a post from the beginning of my new life.
